Beyond the Credits

Some films entertain us. Others stay with us long after the credits roll.

Join us for Beyond the Credits, a new monthly film series celebrating remarkable movies and the conversations they inspire.

We begin with Giuseppe Tornatore’s beloved masterpiece, Cinema Paradiso (1988), a beautiful, funny, and deeply moving celebration of friendship, memory, and the magic of movies.

Set in a small Sicilian village, the film follows Salvatore, a young boy whose fascination with the local movie theater blossoms into a lifelong passion for cinema. At the heart of his journey is his friendship with Alfredo, the theater’s projectionist, whose wisdom and affection help shape the course of Salvatore’s life.

But beneath its nostalgic charm, Cinema Paradiso raises some surprisingly profound questions about love, sacrifice, ambition, and the choices that define us. What do we gain by leaving home? What do we lose? And can we ever truly return to the places and people who made us who we are?

Following the screening, stay for a relaxed, guided conversation as we explore the film’s themes, characters, and unforgettable moments. No film expertise required—just curiosity, an open mind, and a willingness to share your perspective.

Whether you’re revisiting an old favorite or discovering Cinema Paradiso for the first time, we hope you’ll join us for an afternoon of wonderful cinema and even better conversation.

Presented in Italian with English subtitles. Original theatrical version (124 minutes).
