Special Screening + Filmmaker Q&A
LECHE ROJA: RETRATO DE AMOR Y REDENCIÓN

See the film — then meet the woman who made it.

HoLA Maz welcomes DaVida Sal, writer, director and star of Leche Roja, for a special screening followed by an audience Q&A.
Created in Mexico outside the traditional studio system, Leche Roja is fiercely independent filmmaking in the truest sense: a deeply personal project built through community support, local collaboration and Sal’s determination to bring an uncompromising vision to the screen. Sal describes making the film as an act of “sacrifice, endurance, transformation, and rebirth.” FilmFreeway

After the screening, stay for a conversation with Sal about the film, its unusual journey from idea to finished feature, independent filmmaking in Mexico, and what happens when the person writing the story, directing the camera and inhabiting its central character is one and the same.

Come for the film. Stay for the story behind it.

Run time: 110 minutes

Synopsis:
Eva, a 300-year-old vampire tired of killing, arrives in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, seeking one last chance to change. There, she finds refuge with Lili, an American vampire who abandoned violence and built a new life in Mexico. When Eva meets Bill Harvey at Casa de la Noche, something she thought she had lost awakens within her: her humanity. But her transformation is threatened when Siwa, her vampire husband, returns to take her back to San Francisco.
Caught between a past that refuses to let her go and the possibility of a new life, Eva must decide who she wants to be and how much she is willing to sacrifice to stop being a monster.
